What to teach teens about photography?
My sister and I are going to church camp soon and we are in charge of teaching guys about photography. The head of the camp will have digital cameras for them to use and something they can print the pictures onto. What are basics of photography that we could teach guys. My sister and I were never taught but naturally picked it up. The classes will be 45 minutes a day for 5 days. What do you suggest is something simple to teach guys ranging from 8-16?
The basics to start with. How to work the camera, exposure settings, composition etc. When they've grasped the basics, send them out and see how they get on. Then advise them on where they've gone wrong, what they could improve on, things they could try...

Start with the basics and when they've started taking the pictures you could find that the rest comes from that.
Teens photography magazine where they have photography contests???(or online free photography contests)?
I am 14, and need some photography contest either online who in a magazine. It would have to be one for not-very-experienced photographers. i have two beautiful flower pictures that i think have a good chance of winning.....can anyone help me out? links to photography contests online (free)? magazines?? Thanks! 10 stars to best answer
Be careful with those free contests (read the guidelines carefully) Sometimes you have to give up all rights to the images just to get your name in a magazine with some rip off prize.
Most legitimate contests charge a fee.
Good place to start might be here. www.photocompete.com/
Good luck.
Teens: photography advice..?
Hello!

I'm really interested in photography..
But I'm not that good and I don't have the best camera..?
so what advice would you give on how to improve?
and how to get a camera that costs alot of money when I don't earn It.
& I doubt my parents would buy it..?
Just get out there and start shooting, the best way to get good at something is to practice all the time.

If you take good enough photos you could sell prints or do some freelance photography work to save up some money to buy a professional camera. Other than that, go down to the local supermarket and get a job maybe.
What are some good teen photography camps/classes?
I love photography, I'm 14. Not necesarily people, but like landscapes and objects, etc. And I want to get better but I need to take some kind of class to improve. I don't have a special SLR camera or anything yet but I want one SO bad, but I'm waiting a little longer to get one. But does anyone know of any good classes or anything in TN to help me? Or any advice? Thanks!

Teen Photography Classes in the DC area?
I am currently 15 and have a huge interest in Photography. My school doesn't offer Photography as a class until sophomore year so what I've been doing is just taking pictures around different areas and of my friends. Are there any classes I can take in the area?

Also, are there any tips you could give me?
I can't answer about classes in the DC area, but, I can give you some ideas to improve your photography until you can take one and it won't cost a cent as long as you have internet access. There are groups on Flickr, Yahoo, and other sources that are centered around beginners and helping you learn. A Yahoo group named Photography_Beginners is very good and the moderator, Erica has several very easy to use tutorials on her personal website. You can also check for groups and clubs that meet in your area. You can check most of them out quite easily. Most of the online groups have experienced photographers as members even if it is a beginners group to help the new photographers learn. If you join these groups, you need to be very specific about any comments and critique you want. Many beginners give the "ooh, it's nice" answers. That doesn't help improve your work. Ask for suggestions and don't get easily offended if someone says the shot you love isn't very good. Photography is an art, and as such, many different opinions exist about what is good. Be true to yourself and learn the basics well enough to know when and how to break them so they look intentional. Good luck. By the way, Flickr and Yahoo groups are free to join. Maybe I'll get to see some of your stuff.

How Can I Find A Teen Photography Job?
Hey I'm 13 and I love photography. One day I'm hoping I will have a job in it, but as for now what kind of jobs (or not even jobs) or even just little contests to use it as a job, can I get? I have the canon rebel so I do have a photography camera, and I enjoy it. If I can't then totally just wondering.
All cameras are "photography cameras" because they take photos.
Besides that, there aren't many jobs for 13 years old in general, so I would suggest just practicing and evolving your skills.
As good as you may think you are (or your camera makes you) you can always be better.
What are some legitimate teen photography contests online or in the Minneapolis St. Paul Minnesota USA area?
Could you provide some links and or info too please?
Thank you very much!
Sigh.

Is there any teen photography groups in Dickson or Hickman?
I just wanted to know if there was a teen group for photography in Dickson or Hickman
Check in your local paper or even make your own, there will be at least a few people thinking the same thing.
Are there jobs in photography for teens?
i have always had an interest in being a photographer. but i dont know if there are any that involve letting a person actually go out and take pictures of what you actually want to take pictures of, AND that are for teens. can anyone help?
Which magazines do you read? If you read any that are specifically youth-orientated then I would contact them directly. Send a letter or an email with some examples of your work. Even if they wont employ you straight away as a teen pap they may be able to give you some work experience.

Websites are a great way of publishing your work and getting noticed. You can sell licences to your images either directly from your site or by using a 3rd party like shutterstock.com. Also use social sites such as Flickr for showing off your pictures and for getting some great advice from Amateurs/Semis&Pros.

A friend of mine recently went to a festival as a freelance photographer. He signed up and got to party for free! There are events out there like this where they allow photographers(even junior&amateur ones!) to attend an event for free as long as the event holder can use their work afterwards. Win/Win if you ask me.

Also are there any local youth clubs/discos in your area? While club photography isnt quite an art form. It gets you out and socialising, helps you interact with a subject and learn the importance of lighting!

If not then keep snapping. Photography is obviously a passion of yours so keep it up, sooner or later someone will realise your potential and point you in the right direction.

All the best.
